| Why are our Wood Screens the Best? |

We start with clear super strong Douglas-Fir, not cheap woods like poplar or hemlock used by other screen manufactures. Then we miter the corners at 45 degrees, glue them and pin them with a high strength steel pin. By cutting the corners at 45 degree angles we eliminate exposure to all end grains of the wood. End grains will soak up chemicals and water which will ultimately warp the screen. We finish them off with a dip in polyurethane to seal the whole thing up. Other companies use cheaper wood such as poplar which is a very light weight wood. They also use a tongue and groove method on the corners which makes for a strong joint, however it exposes the end grain on all the wood, which means the screen will not last long. This is why they are sometime very inexpensive. |
