ENVIRONMENTALLY FRIENDLY PVC FREE SCREEN PRINTING INK
PRODUCT OVERVIEW: A user-friendly water-soluble ink. Water base inks penetrate the fabric surface coating individual fibers with a thin film. The finish is non-glossy and soft to the hand taking on the feel of the garment itself. The printed surface opens with the weave when stretched. With washing water base will soften. Jacquard waterbased inks meet or exceed the State of California air quality standards.
APPLICATIONS: General-purpose textile screen printing. Towels linens bedspreads and other applications where ink may contact skin. Poster printing.
MESH: 160
STENCIL: A water resistant photo emulsion and water resist blockout are recommended as waterbased ink will ultimately dissolve a standard emulsion during the course of printing.
ADDITIVES: Extender is available for mixing with waterbased inks.
PRINTING: Medium to light squeegee pressure is recommended with a 70 durometer squeegee. Heavy deposits result in a harder hand and light deposits result in less opacity. Always flood the screen after the print stroke to minimize ink drying in the image area of the screen.
HEAT CURING: Waterbased inks cure in two stages. First the drying stage then the setting stage. Heat cure for 2 minutes at 300 ?? °F. Waterbase inks may feel dry but may not be set. Lower temperature cures are possible for sensitive substrates but the time may need to be extended. It takes longer to set waterbased inks than to cure plastisol inks. Be sure to extend cure time when changing inks. With inadequate cure the print area will wash out or fade significantly. Test prints by hand washing. Machine wash to determine long term durability.
AIR DRY: Air-drying of water base inks is possible on most flat surfaces. Heat curing is recommended as not all fabrics or weather conditions lend themselves to air-drying. YOU MUST TEST BEFORE PRODUCTION. Heat setting can be done after wetness is gone using a heat press or conveyor dryer.
